Coursework focuses on world history from 1500 C.E. to modern day. An advanced 9th grade social studies course designed to guide students to in-depth knowledge of the major concepts and themes associated with modern world history. Students apply knowledge through technical writing, logical analysis of documents, research, and use of data to support answers to value-based questions. While encountering content, students practice important literary and historical thinking skills such as sourcing, contextualization, corroboration, and close-reading. Strong reading and writing skills are necessary to be successful in this course, and more work outside of class is required. This course meets daily for one semester.
For students taking advanced world history, there are additional requirements. Pre-reading assignments should be completed before the first day of school. These assignments can be found in the "pre-reading" page on this website.
